Founding of ECLAC (CEPAL)

The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL) was established by the UN Economic and Social Council. Under Prebisch’s leadership from 1950, it became the intellectual center for structuralist economics and dependency theory.
