Beltrán Leyva Organization
The Beltrán Leyva brothers (Marcos Arturo, Carlos, Alfredo, Héctor) were senior Sinaloa Cartel figures until a dramatic 2008 rupture — they accused El Chapo of betraying Alfredo’s location to the government. The BLO allied with Los Zetas against the Sinaloa Cartel.
The organization was rapidly dismantled: Marcos Arturo killed by the Navy in December 2009, Carlos arrested the same month, Héctor arrested in 2014. After its collapse, the BLO fragmented into successor groups including Guerreros Unidos — infamously linked to the September 2014 disappearance of 43 Ayotzinapa students — Los Rojos, and Los Mazatlecos.
